WWE SD/ECW Live Results - August 17th, 2009
August 17th, 2009 - Lincoln, Nebraska
Tommy Dreamer V. Shelton Benjamin V. William Regal V. Christian for the ECW Championship- Pretty good match. Did the usual spots where two guys rested on the outside and two fought inside. Did the superplex/powerbomb combo from the top rope. Christian pinned Benjamin with the killswitch. Nice pop for Christian

8/15 WWE Smackdown/ECW in Mankato
Christian defeated Tommy Dreamer, William Regal, and Shelton Benjamin in a four-way to retain the ECW Title. Nice reactions for all four men. Christian's usual gaze into the upper deck during his entrance had to be lowered a bit since there weren't many people in the upper decks at this show. Regal was a lot of fun throughout the match with his mannerisms and heel antics. It was a treat to see his antics in person.
The fans popped when Christian and Dreamer locked up for the first time. These four received better reactions than Morrison, and this would have been a solid main event match. Christian hit the Killswitch on one of the heels (I believe it was Regal) and scored the pin.
Afterward, Christian spotted what appeared to be a teenaged fan wearing one of his t-shirts in the crowd. He made the fan's night by bringing him in the ring, putting the ECW Title over the fan's shoulder, having him strike a Christian pose, and taking his picture for him. A very cool moment.

ECW MISSES
Benjamin's Aspirations: After a few good weeks of rebuilding since his loss to Yoshi Tatsu, I was hoping to see Shelton Benjamin trying to get himself into the ECW Title picture. With Vladimir Kozlov going into a storyline with Ezekiel Jackson, Benjamin should be the top heel on the brand. I was intrigued when he first came into Tiffany's office asking her if she got his email as I thought that he was going to ask for a Title shot. Before I could complete that thought, he asked about appearing on the Abraham Washington Show. That is what Benjamin aspired to this week? To appear on that lame show? And now he has to go into a program of trying to prove that he is entertaining enough. How is he going to do that, make more early 1990s references and fat jokes? Are they going to stretch Tommy Dreamer vs. Christian out longer than next week? If not, then who gets the Title shot at SummerSlam?

of people saying they can't like Shelton cos he has no charisma...blah blah blah
WHAT IS WITH THE SHELTON HATE???
Seriously...did Benoit have Charisma??? Hell No!!! He was known for his wrestling
Can Shelton wrestle? YES! He is the best wrestler the WWE have got.
Can Jeff Hardy cut promos??? NO! Can he wrestle better than Shelton? NO! But he is over!
Dammit...if you don't like Shelton, just say so...but don't use 'he has no charisma' as an excuse, when you no doubt like one of the two I have just mentioned!

Backstage: GM Tiffany talked to Tommy Dreamer, who thanked Tiffany for her support the last few months. There was some mysterious announcement/discussion before the "camera cut in." Dreamer walked off. Shelton Benjamin then came in and asked her if she got the email about being on the Abraham Washington show. Tiffany had some concerns that maybe Shelton isn't entertaining enough. Apparently Shelton offending the Japanese culture a few weeks ago wasn't entertaining. Gregory Helms then barged in. Shelton told him to hold on. He played up Helms's dual personalities and suggested he'll give Tiffany something entertaining. He walked off in a huff, leaving Helms in the office.
